The end of the year is finally upon us, it is time to sweep up old resolution, bad habits and begin a new list. It is the beginning of new practices, attitudes and beliefs. The New Year marks the point where we change things about ourselves; we make resolutions and hope to start a new year with a new self. It is the day that we decide to start a new identity or change aspects of ourselves that we disliked throughout the year. Thus, on the very day of new resolutions why not try something that indicates the change that you are establishing. Begin the year with the difference that you want to carry in the upcoming year. Here are some suggestions.

Put your dance shoes on.

Many New Year resolutions are based on people wanting to be less shy and becoming more of an extrovert. It is also the beginning that many people decide to start looking for romance more determinately. Therefore on New Year\’s Day, accept the party invitations that you have subtly tossed into the bin or shoved aside because you felt shy. The New Year is a great way to start because of the house parties and events that are launched throughout the city. Push yourself to try this, put your dance shoes on, and have a great time at the party. Remember that this is the new you and you should try different things. However, keep in mind that if you are going out to a party, be wary of your drink, watch your handbag/wallet and keep a steady head. Enjoy yourself but not at the expense of your safety.

  1. Dare to be different

As we mentioned, the New Year is about starting a newer self, therefore try something that you would not have thought of doing on New Year\’s day. If you have been attending parties for the past few years, how about trying a small, quiet home-cooked meal with loved ones or your significant other? If you have never tried cooking before, there are many websites on the Internet that are more than willing to walk you through the process of preparing a delicious and comforting meal to welcome in the New Year. Saving money is also a constant resolution that comes up every year, thus cooking and staying home is in many ways a cheaper option. Besides cooking, there are a string of activities that you could try such as horse riding, skydiving for the more adventurous spirit or even an impromptu drive to the beach. Try something of the beaten path that you usually walk, you never know, but you might come across some great trails and lovely experience.

  2. Food and Beverage

This suggestion ties in with the previous activity. It is also an important aspect in our celebration, therefore rather than going back to the same restaurant and ordering that same meal with the same drink, spark up your New Years dinner. Try a cuisine that you would never think about. Many hotels and restaurants have great food promotions; try a Japanese buffet of sushi, or a family meal at a Korean restaurant or even Tapa\’s at a Spanish eatery. The local newspapers are
chockfull with suggestions and if that is not helpful the Internet is your ready guide to the best deals in town. Live a little and give your gustatory a new sense of adventure.

Try a different approach this 2010 and have a blessed and creative New Year.
