Caring For Your Marble Cutting Board

 

It is normal for you find the marble cutting board quite expensive. Therefore, it is wise for you to always care and preserve its condition properly. It is easy for you to clean your marble cutting board and maintain your cleaning schedule regularly so that you can prevent stains from staying permanently on the marble board. You must also remember not to use any solution that will in the end leave a toxic residue that might taint any of the food that you are preparing after cleaning the board.   • White vinegar
  • 2 tablespoon of mild liquid dish detergent
  • Spray bottle
  • Soft clean washcloth
  • Damp sponge
  • Soft bristle brush

  • The first thing that you need to do is to clean your marble board is to make the most suitable cleaning solution.
    • You need to take a mixture of warm water along with distilled white vinegar and 2 tablespoon of liquid dish detergent.
    • Then, you need to fill mixture into a spray bottle.

The base of your cleaning solution will always be the warm water while the vinegar will be the disinfectant and also the detergent similar to other cleaning agent such as the mineral oil and grease.

  • All of the above ingredients need to be mixed inside the spray bottle thoroughly.
    • This solution will assist you in removing any of the bacteria on the surface of your marble board and at the same time clean the surface.

 

  • You simply need to spray the solution directly over the affected surface on your marble cutting board.
    • It is not advisable for you to use a cloth to spread the solution over the board.
    • You have to let the solution stay on your marble board for a couple of minutes before you can start to wipe them away by using a damp sponge.
    • The solution will help you disinfect the marble board from any existing bacteria and after a while you can simply remove any of the remaining residues off the board.
    • Rinse the board with clean water and air dry it thoroughly before you can use it again.

 

Although you might only be using one side of the marble cutting board for your daily kitchen use, make it a habit to clean both sides of the marble board every time you finished using it.

 

Always remember that whenever you want to clean your marble cutting board,

  • Make sure that you do not use harsh cleansers that could end up stripping the marble away of its shining appearance whenever you are doing regular weekly cleaning of the board.
  • If you use acids, it will definitely damage the marble’s surface. Therefore, if there are stains coming from foods and drinks that contain any kind of acids, you must immediately clean them away.
