Steps:

The most usual decorating ideas for New Year’s Eve party are to combine winter or Christmas decorations with the party decorations. Because the Christmas celebrations and the New Year’s Eve is close to each other, most people still have the previous decorations for Christmas and will want to incorporate them into their New Year’s decoration party so as not to waste them. Among the decorations ideas that you can combine are Christmas tree with ornaments, holly, pinecones and red bows.

Make a great centerpiece from assortment of pinecones in a glass bowl, which works nicely with Christmas or even for the New Year’s Eve party.

Sometimes, you don’t have to follow the usual guidelines for New Year’s Eve decorations. Other theme you can use for this party are beach theme decorations, which include centerpieces of sand sculptures, fishing nets as the tablecloth, shell shaped plates and other beach elements. Follow your creativity to make the theme works for your party decorations.

If you want to spend less money on decoration, ask your guests to bring an item to contribute for the party’s decorations. You and your guests will be amazed by the collections of items assortment at the end of the celebrations.

The idea is to reduce waste and your money to spend on the decoration and at the same time, provide the opportunity for the guests to get to know each other. They get to view all the items that they bring and share stories about the items that they brought for the party.

It is important to have party decorations that contribute to the atmosphere, but at the same time does not distract the party. The guests of your party should appreciate your efforts and note the decorations.

The main point is the decorations should not be the main attention to the party. Instead, you should provide the focus of the party with the guests socializing, foods and drinks, activities and having a good time throughout the night.

For more detailed wall prop, create symbols of cityscapes or windows onto craft paper. To create the ball, cover a Styrofoam shaped into a globe with aluminum foil and glued with clear plastic cups to achieve a mirrored effect.

A Pre-lit Christmas tree is designed with strands, which are already attached to each of the tree branches while each of the strands has individual bulbs. The pre-lit Christmas tree is chosen because most of us do not like untangling strings to happen to the Christmas light strands. The only problem is that, the strands for the Pre-lit Christmas tree are not removable unlike the individual light strands and whenever one light bulb gets burned, it might affect the other lights on the strand. Besides that, the Pre-lit Christmas tree also needs regular maintenance in order for the lights to always stay lit when the time comes for you to use them.

What you need to do:

Light tester

Replacement bulbs

Christmas light fuses

Strand of lights with its length depends on the Christmas tree

Pre-Lit Christmas Tree

Method:

Firstly, you have to make sure that you have to plug the pre-lit Christmas tree into a workable power outlet supply.

If you have your own Christmas bulb tester, it is recommended that you check each of the lights. You need to do this task gently and remove each of the bulbs from its strands before you place it into the bulb tester. A working bulb will automatically light up when tested.

Whenever you notice any one of the bulbs is not working, you need to replace it with your spare bulbs or purchase it from your local electrical supply store.

If the new replacement lights are still not working, you have to try twisting the bulbs gently from side to side.

If all of the lights are not working accordingly, you need to check the fuse at the end of your light strand. Then, by using a small screwdriver or butter knife you need to gently pry open its cover of the fuse. Next step to do is to pull out the damaged fuse and change it with a new one.

Other areas that you should be checking are the light strands and it is easy for you to check because most light strands comes with letters or numbers assigned onto them from the top to bottom. For instance, you will notice that A plugs into B, which also plugs into C. You need to find the end plugs of the unlit section and in this case section B is not working. Therefore, you need to unplug B, which is the unlit section.

Then, you have to plug in your new strand of lights, wind and wrap it around the tree. Next step to do is to connect the end of the new strand of lights to strand A where it will meet the beginning of strand B. This strand will be used to light the Christmas tree as if you are lighting up an unlit tree.

Finally, you can plug in your new strand with the bottom end of your new strand into the next connection down on your tree or the wall if you reach the tree’s bottom.

If you know a lot of people and have invited them for Christmas, if your dining table can’t accommodate that many people then head over to your kitchen. Sometimes you do not have enough space to put your dishes on the dining table especially when it comes to your official yearly Christmas dinner. Therefore the second best thing to do is to setup and decorate your kitchen counter as an option for your Christmas buffet, which is right in your kitchen area and easy to place whatever meals that you have cooked directly to the counter. Your kitchen counter needs not to be decorated into a glamorous type of dining table, you simply need to prepare a simple decoration with a little bit of Christmas spirit and theme in order for it to be used as your Christmas buffet setup.

What you need to do:

Greenery

Plaid ribbon

Tin graters

Votive candles

White card stock

Small candy-trimmed tree or gingerbread house

Thin red ribbon

Paper punch

Standing wire photo holders

Tan poster board

Markers

Green cord

Christmas Buffet

Method:

Firstly, you just need to cover the entire surface of your kitchen counter by using, for instance, some tea towels that are available with scalloped edges in order for you to iron in a crease and create borders around the edges of your counter.

Another option that would enable you to cleanup any mess easily is to use a length of red vinyl or a vinyl Christmas tablecloth that has a small overall pattern and then you need to cut the vinyl wide enough to cover the counter.

You must at least leave it hanging down at least 6 inches over the edge and for a more attractive look; you can use red and white gingham that will provide a country Christmas look to your kitchen surrounding.

After you have placed your entire empty serving bowls and platters that you want to use during the dinner, you can place a range of different winding greenery in between your serving pieces.

Apart from that, you should also place kitchen utensils like potato mashers, vegetable peelers and wooden spoons decorated with Christmas plaid ribbon bows and place it along the winding greenery as accents.

To add light and sparkle, you can also place votive candles under tin graters, but always ensure that it is safe and would not cause hazard when you decide to decorate the place with candles.

Besides that, it is also nice to decorate the area with a candy tree especially in your dessert section. You can make the candy tree from small bare branches secured in foam inside a flowerpot vase before attaching the candies using ribbons to the tree. Apart from that, you can also use a decorated gingerbread house as an alternative centerpiece to be placed at your dessert section.

If your kitchen counter is big enough, you can place your recipes beside each of your dish. You can simply write the recipes by hand or type and print it out on card stock, add some decorative Christmas clip art before you print it. Then you need to punch two holes at least an inch apart at the top of each of your recipe cards before threading some red ribbon through it and tie it in bow style. You can also use standing wire photo holders to hold the recipe cards.

Another decoration that you can do is to create a swag of gingerbread boys cut using tan poster board or cardstock and string them together along with bright green cord. Next step to do is to write your guests name who would be attending your dinner on each of the gingerbread boy. Once finished, you can hang the swag on your kitchen cabinets just above the buffet and don’t hang them too low as not to get in the way of your guests when they serve themselves in front of the buffet.

It is also good to have a good traffic flow around your kitchen counter when the Christmas buffet has started to enable your guest to maneuver around the area with ease.

There you have it; that is how you can make your house even more special during Christmas. Not only that, to decorate your kitchen counter you will be able to accommodate more people for your special Christmas dinner. This ensures more people can be invited and of course, more food to be served.

When Christmas time gets near, we wonder what more can we do to decorate our home. What more can we do to welcome this festive season into our home. We all like to do something nice for Christmas. This festive day comes only once a year and most of us do the best we can to make the most special day of the year. There are many ways that we can do to make this memorable, but most importantly it’s the best to get as involved as we can in this festivity.

Some of the Christmas Stockings are made of cross stitch where it is made by using an old needlepoint art technique out of cross stitch fabric, specialty fabrics and several embroidery flosses. Your cross stitch Christmas stockings can be designed traditionally with full sized pieces especially for hanging it on your mantle or it can even be a miniature size just like ornaments as well as gift card holders and it can be created using fibers like rayon, wool or sparkly nylon. As for the embroidery floss type, which normally uses cotton and has a certain pattern known as the basic 6-strand floss. The colors of the fabrics depend on your own choices, but generally during Christmas the common colors being used are ivory or white, black, red and green.

What you need to do:

Colonial Blue Aida 14 cloth

DMC embroidery flosses

Tapestry needle

Small scissors

Embroidery hoop

Blue moire faille fabric

Light blue cotton fabric

Gold lame

3/16-inch-diameter cotton cord

Sewing thread (for stocking)

White Aida 11 fabric

DMC embroidery flosses

Red fabric (for tree skirt)

White fabric (for tree skirt)

Christmas Stockings

Method:

Firstly you have to find the center of your cross stitch fabric, mark it temporarily using short length thread and then find its center design pattern. Next, you have to count how many stitches are needed from the edge of the pattern to its center. After that, you need to count down from the center right down to its bottom edge of your pattern.

Once you finish doing that, you can choose the letters that you need from the alphabet pattern and center them right on the baseline just above your main design and each of the letter should be 9 stitches high and 8 stitches wide. Then you can start stitching the pattern and your recipient’s name on your cross stitch fabric.

For your next step, you need to stitch running stitches by using sewing thread right around the outer edge of the design and allow an extra 1/8 inch past the design at its top edge before you trim the fabric 1/2 inch past the running stitches.

Then, you have to place your design fabric onto the blue moire faille. This is used as a pattern enabling you to cut out a stocking back and make sure to cut two lining pieces from your light blue cotton fabric.

Once finished, you have to cut and piece the lame into a 2-inch by 40-1/2-inch bias strip and this strip along with the cotton cord are used to make a piping. Then, trim the seam allowance to at least 1/2 inch length.

After that, line up the raw edges of the piping and the design fabric before you baste the piping to the right side of the design fabric along both sides and the foot.

Next, you must position the stocking back and design piece with its right sides together. Then, sew the stocking back onto the design piece and leave its top open. When you finish doing that, clip the curves and turn the stocking right side out.

Take the remaining faille in order to cut a 1-1/2 by 5-inch bias strip before you start to fold the strip in half and then sew the long edge. Next, you need to trim the seam to 1/4 inch and turn the right side out before pressing it.

After that, fold the hanger into half and sew it to the right side of your stocking back, adjoining the piping and ensure its edges are even.

Then you need to sew the lining pieces together along the length of both its sides and foot, but make sure to leave a 5-inch opening on one side. The seam allowance also needs to be trimmed to 1/4 inch and clip the curves.

Finally, you have to slide your stocking unit into the lining with both of its right sides facing one another and the top edge have to be sewn together. Besides that, you need to trim the seam and turn; and not to forget to use a needle and sewing thread enabling you to slip-stitch the opening closed.

When Christmas time gets near, we wonder what more can we do to decorate our home. What more can we do to welcome this festive season into our home. We start off by decorating the big things and eventually end by decorating the little and small things.

Metal tins are generally used to keep sweet treats and cookies for better and longer shelves storage. During festive seasons such as Christmas, the metal tins are decorated with pictures that depict the elements of Christmas. If you finish consuming the cookies and treats, never throw the metal tins away as they can be transformed to beautiful Christmas decorations. At the same time, you are not only reducing waste, but also producing an admirable metal tin decoration for your Christmas. This is something fun to do before Christmas and not that many people have actually thought of decorating something like this. Here are the steps on how to decorate your place with Christmas tins.

You will need:

Pompoms

Lace

Sandpaper

Beads

Hot Glue

Christmas Pictures

Artificial Holly

Spray Paint

Christmas Tins

Steps:

First, determine whether you want to keep the existed picture on your tin or not. If your picture already has a decorative Christmas picture on it, you may don’t have to do much. But if your metal tin comes with no decorations at all, use sandpaper to sand the tin’s entire surface to provide a clean and clear canvas for your paint. Spray any seasonal solid color, such as green or red, all over the metal tins. Leave the metal tin to dry off.

Then, use a hot glue gun to stick the beads to the tin following a Christmas pattern. For example, you can make a simple Christmas element such as Christmas tree using green beads or create Christmas ornaments by using red beads. The creation is endless, so use your imagination and Christmas mood to make other patterns.

Make an accent to the tin by using artificial holly, bits of lace, Christmas pictures from calendars and vintage holiday cards. Use the hot glue gun to secure the accent to the tin.

To make a snowman, arrange white fuzzy pompoms according to the body shape of a snowman. Add black pompoms to create the mouth, eyes, arms, and hat. For a reindeer picture, you can use red and brown pompoms. Glue the pompoms with a hot glue gun to secure them on the metal tin.

Finally, leave the metal tin to dry before displaying. You can prop the decorated lids of the metal tins on the tables, counter tops and shelves for display or you can use the whole tin. Make another use of your decorated tins to store potpourri, flowers and candy.

You can choose to display your Christmas tins anywhere interesting that you find in the house. Placing it in a place where people will see it is even better.

There are many ways and ideas that one can use to decorate our home for Christmas. Basically, when decorating we try to save in the cost of things that we need. During Christmas season, bring your family and neighbors away from the hustle of work by creating a lively and bright space. Christmas tree lighting is a great Christmas event for your neighborhood, as it brings together the family and neighbors for an evening community event sharing laughs and joy. We all like to do something nice for Christmas. This festive day comes only once a year and most of us do the best we can to make the most special day of the year. The comfortable place of your neighborhood and the beautiful glow from the Christmas tree lighting will make your event a precious moment not to be forgotten for many, so here are the activities and things that you can include during the Christmas tree lighting event

Ideas:

A community bond can be strengthen and also create traditions when you involve your neighborhood into the holiday activities. Bring all of your family members to be part of the Christmas tree activity until the lighting ceremony.

Pass the event flyers that you can create by yourselves using publishing software or desktop word processor to invite your neighbors to your Christmas tree lighting. Tell your neighbors to contribute an ornament with their names on them, and so that you can save them for the next year’s Christmas tree decorations.

Provide each of your guests with a paper holder with a candle inside. Ask the guest with the first candle lighted to light the person’s candle next to him/her and so on.

There are so many Christmas elements that you can choose to create a festive ambiance for your neighborhood Christmas tree lighting. Before the lighting ceremony, make sure to string the Christmas tree lights and ask your guests to hang their ornaments on the tree. Assign one of your family members to light up the tree. For the Christmas carol, you can print music sheets with the lyrics from Christmas songs such as “Silent Night”, “Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer” and “Oh Come All Ye Faithful”. Bring the entire neighborhood around and lit the tree while singing to Christmas carols.

After the Christmas tree lighting, invite your guests into your home for some light refreshments and a round of neighborhood goodbyes. Serve large thermal carafes filled with holiday spiced tea, blend coffee and hot cider on a buffet table. You could also serve cupcakes with various frosting for your guests to eat as they mingle around each other. Put a bowl of wrapped candy canes at the door for your guests to take home as their token for appreciation and a thanks for their attendance. Make sure to thank everyone that came and invite them all back to your next year’s Christmas activities.

When Christmas time gets near, we wonder what more can we do to decorate our home. What more can we do to welcome this festive season into our home.

Christmas season is the perfect time to work craft projects with your children. The activities will also allow you to spend more quality time with your children and at the same time, create personalized and unique gifts for your family members and friends to keep.

Basically, there are many fun things to do before Christmas that will excite kids. The usual housework is not fun at all for kids, but there’s always a way to make your kids feel very much involved and at the same time, excited and happy to be helping around for Christmas. Here are some ideas on simple Christmas crafts to be done with your children.

Things that you need:

Pine Cone Ornament

Ribbon

Liquid School Glue

Glitter

Work Area or a Trash Can

Christmas Tree

Ribbon

Pom Pom

Christmas Card

Candy Cane Reindeer

Christmas Crafts

Steps:

A pine cone ornament is a nice method of making a gift item or a keepsake. Tie a small ribbon or string to one of the top pieces of the pine cone using sturdy pine cones on a covered work surface.

Spread small dabs of clear liquid school glue all over the pine cone, and then sprinkle with green, red or gold glitter all over the pine cone. Let it dry for about 30 minutes, shaking off any excess glitter over your work area or a trash can. Tie a ribbon or a string on the pine cone’s stem before hanging it on your Christmas tree.

A candy cane reindeer can be used as a gift, decoration or as an ornament. To make this sweet crafts, glue two small plastic eyes onto the shorter and curved end of the candy cane using craft glue. Place the eyes in a facing outward way about halfway between the crook of the candy cane and the end of the short side. Underneath the eyes, glue a small fuzzy, red pom pom as the reindeer nose.

Christmas magnets can be fun crafts for the kids to reuse as old bottle lids. Collect a metal, plastic, juice bottle or pill bottle lids. Place the lid in the center of a picture on a Christmas card.

Make sure that the part of the Christmas picture fit inside the lid, then trace around the lid with a pencil. Cut the circle slightly bigger than the tracing that you make. Stick some glue onto the back of the picture cut out and press it into the bottle lid.

Dab some tiny dots of clear glue onto the picture and shake some colorful glitter over it. Remove any excess glitter by shaking it. Glue the magnet to the back of the lid with hot glue before displaying it on your refrigerator or any metal surface.

The ones with so many lights that it looks more like a spaceship than a festive celebration. Some people might go crazy with lights and outdoor decorations just to show their holiday cheer or they’re in an alpha-male competition with their neighbors.
Steps:

First of all, keep your decorations in proportion. For example, if you have a mansion then a thousand of outdoor lights might be the perfect amount for you to decorate your estate. Meanwhile, for the rest of us, it is better to just think of your home as a drawing from a children’s book where you just need to color the lines not the whole house.

Remember, too many lights, knick-knacks and electronic decorations could actually draw your eyes away from detail and makes the tableau of your home a noisy blur.

Use the right amount of decorations to draw carolers’ eyes to areas you want them to see. You might know where making hot pepper sauce, there comes a point when putting too much into a sauce ruins it. The same way goes with lights, your home is the best showpiece, be sure to show off your home not the lights.

Before you start putting up every color that’s on the rainbow, pick a color scheme. Multi-colored lights are advisable, however when you decide on the strings of colored lights, avoid using the blue, yellow, green and red lights. Choose either one of these colors or a couple complementary colors that could enhance one another, not compete.

Also, do not forget to consider the amount of blinking lights you will use. Blinking lights could be fun and attractive at the same time, but it can be distracting if you use too many of them as if in a club.

Bear in mind, your front-lawn needs to be elegant, not a bomb-in-yard light and motion explosion, which is why you don’t need to decorate everything in the front lawn, not everything needs to be covered by a string of lights.

Lastly, do consider everything that you put up, as you are going to be one to take them down. So to save you some of the hassles down the line. Do think whether you really need to put ALL that decorations around the house. As we all know, a thousand lights screams overkill, as well as a high energy bill.
