A patio is where you extend the front portion of your house usually up to 12 feet long and it is single storied. The patio can be fully covered on top of it or without a cover. In order to built a patio, you need to have a lot of patience, know the correct dimension of the area, and havethe correct materials for building it such as the number of wood to be used or either you want to use an aluminum panels, plus other building tools. Below are some of the steps to enable you to build a cover for your patio.

What you need:

  1. Measuring tape
  2. Hacksaw
  3. Screwdriver
  4. Socket and shank
  5. Hammer
  6. Carpenter’s square
  7. Level
  8. Ladder
  9. Nuts and bolts

Method:

  1. First of all, after you have to gather all the tools needed for building the patio and also decide on what materials that you want to use for your patio, you have to determine the correct angle of your roofline and also the size of the cover for the patio.
  2. After that, you need to set the posts for your patio’s cover and use a few base weights for this step. Then, you will have to take the 4-by-4 posts and align them onto the structure’s base. Ensure that all of the posts are secured to base by using a set of nails.
  3. The next step is to create the patio’s cover support beam. It is easier to do this task with help from your friends. You can place double 2-by-12 boards on top of the roof and after that, you have to cut the ridgeline and start to set the rafters.
  4. Then, make sure to take the measurements of the metal screening whereby it usually comes together with the materials for the patio cover. Next, you have to staple the metal screening to the inside of each of the block.
  5. Finally, you start to install your patio’s cover where this is the time when you also needed a friend to do the process. You also need to set up a rain gutter on top of the patio cover where this step is to ensure that if there is any excess water during heavy storms, it will not be able to stay on top of the cover and in the end will damage you patio’s cover. The last step is to install any required insulation on the patio cover’s underside.
