Steps:

  1. Firstly, keep your garbage inside metal thrash cans only. Proper placement for your metal trash can within your garage or a free-standing structure such as a shed.
  2. Then, secure the lids of the trash cans using bungee cords and placing cinder blocks on top. The cinder will prevent the raccoons from being able to pry off the lids.
  3. Place your bird feeders in your house or garage for several weeks. The raccoons can be attracted by the bird feeder scent. This will also help to teach the raccoons that there is no food available in the area.
  4. Eliminates another source of the raccoons’ threats by raking up any fallen fruit from trees in your yard and remove it. Avoid leaving pet food in the yard for overnight. The raccoons will eventually lose interest in returning once they realize there is no reason to visit your home yard.
