How to Apply Kocide Fungicide

 

Gardeners may always try several alternatives in order to prevent and reduce the fungi attacks to their garden by applying Kocide fungicide. Fungi attacks can cause problems such as wilting, root rot and kill off your plants. This Kocide fungicide is a manufactured by DuPont which has several uses that can benefit to the plants in your garden. If you applied Kocide in a proper way according to the detail instruction stated by its manufacturer through the product’s label, you would able to control downy mildew on lettuce and soybeans, bacterial blight on soybeans, citrus canker, and black spot on citrus plants effectively. The Kocide fungicide should be mixed with water before you start to apply the solution by spraying it onto your plants.

  • Sprayer
  • Chemical-resistant gloves
  • Long-sleeved shirt and pants

  • The first thing that you need to do is to wear a long-sleeved shirt and full-length pants
    • You must ensure that safety comes first whenever you are dealing with Kocide. Always wear chemical-resistant gloves before you start using the chemical.
    • Another step which is important for you to do is to cover the other unaffected plants in your garden so that when you do the spraying task, any drifting of the chemicals will not be dropping on the other plants. Make sure you spray as closer as possible on the affected plant.

Based on the research done by DuPont, the Kocide manufacturer, the chemical is considered highly toxic and it should not be in contact with any of your bare skin.

  • Next step for you to adhere to is to follow the exact instruction from DuPont which is one of the manufacturers for Kocide in terms of the amount of water to be used for mixing the Kocide.
    • For instance, in order to suppress citrus canker, you need to mix at least 1 lb. of Kocide along with water that will enable you to spray a total of 1 acre of your garden.
    • You are not advised to use more than 2.5 lbs of the solution.
  • Before you start to spray any of the Kocide solution, you must also take into consideration of the speed of the wind.
    • According to its manufacturer, the wind speed recommended for spraying Kocide should not be exceeding 15 mph.
  • Whenever you spray the Kocide mixture on the affected area, you should do it in long and sweeping strokes.
    • For those of you who are applying the Kocide mixture using a hand sprayer, you should spray them individually on the affected plant one at a time.
    • Always ensure that you do not remove any of your protective clothing or hand gloves while spraying the Kocide mixture.

Remember to wash the outside of your hand gloves using hot and soapy water before removing them off.

  • The fungicide solution should be applied every seven to ten days in order to fully destroy all of the infected fungi.

    Always remember that whenever you want to apply Kocide fungicide

    • You must do it when you are confident that there is no chance of rain for at least 24 to 48 hours.
    • Even if it is not raining, do not apply the Kocide mixture on a windy day. This is to avoid and reduce the drifting of the toxic chemical onto the other area of your garden.
    • Make sure to read the label of the Kocide fungicide that you are using to know the correct amount of mixture that you should be using and other procedure when dealing with the chemical.
    • Before doing the above task, you also need to find the correct Kocide fungicide suitable for your plant by checking with your local garden distributor.
