How to Disassemble a Windmill

 

It is quite a difficult task for you to disassemble a windmill and it is not as simple as it looks. A windmill must be disassembled accordingly until it managed to fit and go through your doorway. Most of us just choose to demolish the surrounding walls around the doorway in order to move the windmill without disassembling the unit in the first place. This is because they feel that it is much easier to fix carpentry rather than disassembling the windmill. Although in order to disassemble your windmill, it might take hours to finish or even days if you are doing it on your own without any help from friends or family. However, once you have managed to disassemble the windmill, you can rest assured that the windmill components would be able to through your doorway easily. Below are some of the tips that you can learn so that you can disassemble the windmill according to the proper way.

  • Wrench
  • Iron pipes
  • Wood
  • Ratchet straps
  • Drill

  • First thing that you need to do is to disassemble your windmill’s front table from the main casting.
    • In order to do that, you have to firstly remove the clutch, the flywheel and also the feeder.
    • You will see that the flywheel is secured using bolts which are normally found at the main casting area and many of the parts are either bolted or pinned into place. It is quite difficult to access and disassemble many of these parts.
    • Although this task will take a few hours to finish but it will ensure you that once you have disassemble the front table, you would definitely be able to move and fit the front table through a narrow entrance.

Make sure that you place some iron pipes inside the holes within the frame in order to keep the press from falling over.

  • The next thing that you need to do is to push some wood in between the pipes and the ground.
    • After you have done the above step, then you need to take the ratchet straps so that you would be able to hold down the frame.
  • Then, take your drill and drill out and replace all of the taper pins that you see to disassemble the windmill.
    • The drilling process of all of the taper pins will also take you a few hours to finish.
  • Finally, once you have finished all of the above process and disassemble the main parts of your windmill, you will definitely be able to move the windmill to another area or even through your entrance door easily.

    Always remember that whenever you want disassemble a windmill,

    • Do not try to attempt to carry its equipments on your own because it is really heavy and you might injure yourself if you try to move them on your own.
    • Equipments such as the flywheel, the front table or the main casting can be easily moved by using rigging equipment that is much more suitable and easy to the users without hurting them during the moving task.
