Solar powered lights work best outside where they can get enough sunlight to convert into energy for them to light up. Not only are they environmentally friendly, they are also safe, affordable and a great way to light up your landscape. Solar powered lights are easy to install as they do not need any special wiring or digging. This is how you can install solar powered lights on your own:

  1. The first step is to determine the number of lights you will need to light up the intended area. Once you have done that, you can purchase the solar powered lights at your hardware store or any other store that sells yard ornaments. You should select lights with a black painted finish or a metal finish in copper, bronze or silver as they look better in the dark.
  2. Next, you will need to \’charge\’ these lights by leaving them standing upright in an area that will receive bright sunlight. These lights will need to be charged for 12 to 14 hours therefore you should leave them out as soon as there is sunlight or over two days to get the batteries ready for installation.
  3. Next, mark the spots where you intend to install these solar powered lights. They should be placed at equal intervals for aesthetic purposes. Besides that, you must also ensure that you choose spots that are not shaded and are guaranteed to receive enough sunlight to power your lights.
  4. After that, you can install your solar powered lights by pushing the base into the ground. If the soil is too hard or dry to push the base in, you may dampen it but make sure to wait a few hours before installing the lights to avoid stress to the light\’s support post. You can also use a small spade to loosen soil that is too hard.
