Whether you are trying to install or repair a wall mounted air conditioner heater wall unit, it is similar to working with a window unit system. Its installation is not that difficult but it will be helpful if you have a partner to help. It is also a straightforward task if you want to troubleshoot the unit or even fix cracks in the wall left after you have done its installation. It is advisable to check ahead whether the wall of your house can accommodate the wall unit or not. This is because by having a wall unit air conditioner means you will be cutting into the wall itself and you must ensure that the wall can take the stress and also support the weight of the unit. In order to repair a wall mounted air conditioner or heater, below are some of the information that may be useful to you.

What you need:

  1. Electrical test pen
  2. Screw driver
  3. Warm and soapy water

Method:

  1. First of all, you must make sure that the air conditioner has been disconnected with the power source before you start working on the cleaning or repairing task.
  2. If your unit stops operation abruptly, you need to check its electrical cord whether it is damaged or not. Check the plug of the power source with other electrical device to make sure it is not faulty. Other thing to check is the breaker whether it is shut off or not. If you notice that the wire to the unit is damaged, you need to replace it with a new wire or call your electrician to rectify the problem. If your breaker constantly tripped, you need to install a dedicated circuit.
  3. If you are having problems with poor air circulation, this is due to dirty filter and it requires you to disassemble the filter for cleaning. Wash the filter carefully according to the manufacturer\’s instruction or rinse it using warm and soapy water. Do not use chemical cleaning product but use a fin cleaner or a very soft brush for cleaning the aluminum fins (its cooling mechanism). Remember not to use water as this can make the dirt turn into mud and causes further damage.
  4. You can also check the unit\’s blower fan to ensure that it is working fine. If the air conditioner is not making any sound or providing an unusual noise, then the most likely problem would be the unit\’s fan or the fan\’s motor. The problem needs to be addressed to an air conditioner technician.
