Remove Oil or Grease Stains From Fabric

Sometimes when you are doing your household chores, cooking or even when you are in the office elevator, you may get a grease stain on the cloth that you are wearing. This can be annoying especially if the cloth is your most expensive blazer or custom-made dress and if it is not removed, the oil may ruin the fabric. Not just on our clothing, but when oil spills anywhere we know that we\’ll have a hard time cleaning it up.

Grease stains are hard to get out, which is probably why it\’s irritating to find out that we have accidentally drop a pinch of oil on our clothes. It\’s even more annoying to remove the stains as we all know how difficult that can be. Thankfully in today\’s age with new technologies, there are several products out there that specialize in the removal of grease stains.

Although grease stains are exceptionally difficult to remove, there are still a few products that would be able to help you remove the stain from the fabrics.

What you need:

  1. Laundry Pretreatment
  2. Paper towels
  3. Dry-cleaning Solvent
  4. Talcum Powder
  5. Cornstarches
  6. Liquid Detergent (or Dish Detergent)

Method:

  1. One of the products that can be used to remove grease stain from fabrics is a dish-washing detergent. You only need to use a few drops of the liquid detergent directly on the stain, leave it for a few minutes in order for the fabric to soak with the detergent completely. Then, you need to ensure that the stain has been totally removed and has well-washed the fabric.
  2. Besides that, laundry detergent can also be used to remove stains on fabric. Make a laundry paste out of the laundry detergent by adding a little bit of water before rubbing it on the fabric. Next, leave a little bit of the paste on the affected area until the fabric soaks in it. Then, you must rinse the fabric until it is clean.
  3. One of the best grease stain remover is lestoil and you can squeeze out some of the lestoil on the affected area. Leave it on for at least 10 minutes before you rinse off the fabric as usual in order to see the stain vanish.
  4. WD-40 is also a stain remover that can be used to remove stubborn grease stains. It can be used by spraying it on the affected stained area and leaving it to sit for at least 30 minutes. Once done, you need to rub it using a scrub and wash the fabric as usual.
  5. Especially for a freshly new grease stain spilled on the fabric, you can use talcum powder or corn starch. Just sprinkle some talcum powder or corn starch on the stain and leave it on overnight. The next day you can brush it off and wash the fabric as you normally do.
