Clearing Codes on a Garage Door

Most garage door openers use entry codes to allow homeowners to access to their garage. In some cases, you can set the additional entry codes for your family members or those employed by your business company. To make sure that your property is secure, clear any additional entry codes when they are no longer needed. This will depend on your model of garage door opener if you need to delete any additional codes. Here are the steps on how to clear codes on a garage door.

You will need:

  1. Garage door opener manual.

Steps:

  1. First, clear the temporary codes by entering your main entry code on the keypad. Press a combination of keys that is particular to your model of opener then followed by the temporary code you want to clear. The door opener will flash lights or beeps to indicate process in some cases. For the proper instructions, refer to the instruction manual.
  2. Then, enter your garage via another entrance to access the mechanism. Press the appropriate button on the motor to clear the master code and then enter an alternative code on the keypad. You will need to press and hold the “OK” or “ENTER” button until the garage light blinks or indicates a successful code reset once you enter the code. You may need help to complete this task if your keypad is a significant distance from your garage door since some of the models have their time limit for you to finish.
  3. Next, enter a new code into the keypad and then press and hold the “OK” or “ENTER” button. Finally, press a combination of buttons inside the garage on the motor or the control panel by the exit door. The exact buttons that you press will vary, according to your model of garage door opener.
