Cooking with Gas Grill

 

You will find it much easier and fast to cook with gas grill than using charcoal grill. You do not need to spend long period of time in waiting for your charcoals to get hot to do your grilling and also you do not have to do any cleaning of residue of the charcoal to discard off. A normal portable gas grill is designed with propane tank for its fuel. Ever since gas grill has come into our lives, almost 60%-80% of all grilling done by most household are using gas grill due to several advantages of gas grills.

Cooking with your Gas Grill

  • The first thing that you need to do is to apply a light coat of your cooking oil or you can even spray the cooking oil before you light up the grill.
    • Remember not to spray the oil on a hot grill as it could cause flame ups and also injure yourself.

    Always ensure to check your gas lines for any leaks. If you notice of any leakage, DO NOT use the grill. You need to also have at least 1/3 of your gas tank contain gas before starting to do any grilling. This is to avoid you from running out of gas while you are cooking.

  • The next step is to light up your grill using the igniter switch in order to light its burners.
    • You also need to turn on the gas at the tank before turning one burner valve on. Once you push the igniter button, the burner will immediately light up.
    • If you do not have an igniter switch, you need to find a hole near the burner and light it up using a match or long lighter.
    • Always be extra careful when lighting up the grill. You should only light one burner that you want to use for grilling your food because normally gas grills is designed with 3 or 4 burners.

The cooking times for cooking steak using a gas grill is 8 to 10 minutes for 1-inch steak or 10 to 12 minutes for 1 1/2-inch steak (Rare cook), 12 to 14 minutes for 1-inch steak or 16 to 20 minutes for 1 1/2-inch steak (Medium cook) and 16 to 20 minutes for 1-inch steak or 22 to 26 minutes for 1 1/2-inch steak (Well-done cook)

  • Remember to allow your grill burners to get hot for a few minutes before you place any food on top of the grill.
  • Once the heating is suitable enough for grilling, you can place the food on the grill over the fire and start cooking the food.
    • Make sure that you place the food over your lit burner and sear one side before turning it over to sear the other side of your food.
    • Once you have finished doing the above step, you should move the food to another area of your grill. Make sure that it is not directly over the fire and then close the lid of the grill. Continue your cooking with a slow cooking method.
  • In order to help you cook a wonderful barbecue, you can simply refer to a grilling or BBQ recipe book simply follow the cooking instructions provided by the manufacturer of your gas grill in terms of cooking times and also temperatures suitable for different kind of foods.
    • If you are cooking meats, you can make use of a meat thermometer to know the level of your desired temperature for nicely cook meal.
    • You can also find some gas grill that come with a pot warmer. You can use it to heat foods just by using a pan like baked beans as well as soup.
  • Once you have finished cooking you should turn off your grill burners and also turn off the gas tank.
    • You must also ensure that the burners are completely off before you leave the grill to enjoy your meal.

    • Gas grill can be use for cooking all year round even during cold weather or even when it is during the winter season outside your house.
