How to Remove a Burner Orifice from a Gas Dryer

A burner orifice normally regulates the gas flow within a burner and it is a small part that you will find at the end of a burner tube. Whenever it is time for you to replace an orifice, make sure that you use a proper part that is compatible with the type of gas that you are using. If you have proper knowledge, you will find that it is not a difficult task for you to remove a burner orifice from your gas dryer. You might be encountering one difficult part during the task that is when you want to take the dryer apart in order to reach the burner. As for removing the burner orifice, you are only required to use any normal tool kit to be found in many household.

To remove a burner orifice from a gas dryer, you need:

  • Adjustable wrench
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Putty knife

How to Remove a Burner Orifice from a Gas Dryer

  • First thing that you need to do is to unplug your dryer’s power cord away from your electrical outlet before proceeding with your task.
    • Make sure that you also turn off the gas supply at the main valve.
    • Use an adjustable wrench to disconnect the gas pipe from the dryer’s main body.
    • Then, you need to insert a putty knife into the seam situated in front of your dryer that is between the top and front panel.
    • When you want to release them, you should be releasing the retaining clips that you can see at the lid seams on both sides.
    • Next, you need to lift the top of your dryer from its frame before you start to rotate it back against the wall.

Always make sure that you have unplugged the dryer’s power cord attached to your electrical outlet.

  • After that, you need to remove the retaining screws of the front panel. You will the screws near the top on the inside of your dryer frame by using a Phillips screwdriver.
    • The front panel has to be raised up from the bottom retaining clips to enable you to pull it away from the frame of the dryer.
    • Once done, you need to locate the burner assembly that you will find at the bottom of your dryer usually on the left side.
    • Next step is to remove the burner tube retaining screws with a Phillips screwdriver before you are able to remove the burner tube assembly away from the dryer.
  • Then, you would be able to remove the orifice from the burner tube
    • If it is necessary, you can use an adjustable wrench to loosen up the orifice.
    • Set your new orifice onto the tube and tighten it securely just by using your hand.
    • Next thing to do is to install the burner tube in the dryer, tighten up the retaining screws with a Phillips screwdriver.
  • After that, you can proceed by installing the front panel on the dryer. Make sure that its bottom retaining clips are line up appropriately.
    • Then, you have to install the retaining screws on the inside of your dryer for the front panel with a Phillips screwdriver.
  • Finally, you should lower the top of your dryer down onto the frame.
    • Make sure that you push securely on the top enabling you to lock the dryer’s retaining clips.
    • Finally, you need to connect the gas line onto the dryer and then use an adjustable wrench to tighten up the fitting with an adjustable wrench.
    • Then, you have to plug off the dryer power into the outlet.

    Always remember that whenever you are working with the gas lines of the dryer,

    • Do not smoke because it endangers not only you but also to the other person in your house.
